Overview
The Serengeti is one of the planet’s most important natural ecosystems. Its vast grass plains, scattered acacia woodlands, and granite kopjes support a complete predator–prey system that has remained largely unchanged for thousands of years. Known to the Maasai as Siringet (“endless plains”), the park is globally celebrated for the Great Migration, a continuous, rainfall-driven movement of grazing animals across the landscape.
