About Olosokwan

Why Olosokwan

“Olosokwan” is a Maasai word meaning Buffalo (Syncerus caffer). The name Honors our founder’s home village, Ololosokwan, a place once known as a buffalo territory—and where these majestic animals can still be found today.

Our founder’s connection to nature runs deep. At the age of ten, he was attacked by a buffalo, a moment that could have sparked fear or resentment. Instead, just like many Maasai, he never lost his passion for the wilderness. Rather than developing hatred for wildlife, he grew a stronger respect for it, carrying forward the Maasai spirit of coexistence with nature. This resilience and love for the wild inspired the name Olosokwan Adventures.

Olosokwan

Background

Olosokwan Adventures was inspired by a personal journey that revealed the true essence of meaningful travel. In 2025, our Founder and Managing Director spent three months in the United States, living in Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee, and later in San Francisco, California. While visiting iconic landmarks such as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Land’s End, and even Skywalker Ranch, the most lasting impressions were not the destinations themselves but the people.

Conversations with locals, sharing meals, and learning from their stories showed that the most powerful travel experiences happen when we connect with the custodians of a place. This realization shaped the vision of Olosokwan Adventures: the perfect trip is not only about where you go, but who you spend time with.
